FAQ
Frequently asked questions
The questions that (rightly) always come up before working with a one-person company — answered honestly. Question not listed? Just ask.
What does custom software cost?
Less than you might think, if you start smart. We start small: a working slice that delivers value right away, instead of a big plan on paper. Each iteration comes with fixed agreements up front, so no open end. And because everything runs on no-nonsense infrastructure (shared hosting, no expensive cloud), the monthly running costs afterwards are negligible. After a free intro call you get a concrete estimate.
How quickly will I have something usable?
Weeks, not months. You get your own test environment from day one where every step is clickable, and feedback is processed in days. For illustration: the NextLevel platform saw more than thirty releases rolled out in five days — small, safe and continuous.
Why custom software instead of an existing package?
Sometimes an existing package IS the right choice — and I will tell you so honestly. Custom wins when your operation does not fit a standard workflow, when per-seat licences become unaffordable as you grow, or when you do not want your data at a foreign SaaS provider. At flight schools and training organisations, those three often coincide.
Can I also take the platform as a subscription (SaaS)?
That is one of the models I am currently exploring for flight schools and training organisations: you use the proven platform as a service, for a fixed monthly fee per organisation — so no per-seat pricing that grows with your team. Hosting, updates and backups are included, and you start in weeks instead of months. If you would rather have full control and your own codebase, custom development remains the other route. Interested in the SaaS model? Get in touch — early adopters help shape the roadmap.
What if something happens to you? I do not want to depend on one person.
A fair question to ask any independent developer. That is why all code lives in version control (Git) and you get access to your own repository, the technology is deliberately standard (Node.js, MySQL — any developer can pick it up), and there is documentation. You are never locked in to me. That is not a fine-print promise but an architectural choice.
Who owns the code?
We agree on that clearly up front, before the first line is written. It is customary for you as the client to receive a full copy of the code and broad usage rights, so you are never stuck.
What about privacy and the GDPR?
Privacy by design is the default: EU hosting, data minimisation, consent flows where needed and audit trails on sensitive actions. In the NextLevel platform, for example, the candidate decides which data is shared with an airline — and can always revoke it.
Do you also do maintenance and further development?
Yes — software is never finished. After go-live I take care of backups and updates, and new wishes are picked up in short, clear iterations. You set the pace; there is no mandatory subscription.
Do you only work for aviation?
The focus is on aviation, because that is where the domain knowledge sits alongside the technical: I instruct and fly myself. But operational problems — scheduling, CRM, administration — look alike everywhere. Alongside aviation I also run MesaWeb (mesaweb.es), a multi-tenant website platform for the Spanish hospitality sector. Not sure whether your case fits? One email and you will know.
