Crew Recovery
Sleep, light and rest advice around your rotations — built by a KLM long-haul pilot, for himself. And now for any colleague who can use it.
Now on the App Store (iPhone and Apple Watch) and Google Play (Android) — free basic version, Plus as a subscription · also works with other sleep sources such as an Oura Ring.
Why this app exists
After twenty years of long-haul you know what jet lag feels like — but not exactly what to do about it on this one rotation. Generic jet lag apps don't know your roster, your bunk rest or your calling times. This app grew out of a simple question: what should I do right now to fly fit later and recover quickly at home?
Crew Recovery reads your own crew roster, measures your sleep and recovery through your Apple Watch or another sleep source (such as an Oura Ring), and translates the sleep science into one concrete line at the top of your screen: when to sleep, when to have your last coffee, when to seek or avoid light, and how the bunk rest falls best.
What the app does
From roster to one concrete action
Now page
One banner with your state and the next action, your reserve (0–100, the "tank"), alertness and clock shift — plus the whole trip as a timeline.
Roster-aware
Reads the KLM crew feed from your calendar — report times, rotations, leave. Enter your pickup and the sleep windows count back from your calling.
Bunk planner (augmented crew)
Divide the slots on the alertness model — for 3- and 4-pilot crews, with names per pilot and individual swaps — including advice on who takes which slot for the landing, and a shareable bunk plan as PDF.
Measures instead of guessing
Sleep, resting heart rate, HRV and wrist temperature determine your personal rhythm and your actual recovery — from your Apple Watch by default, but any sleep source in Apple Health (such as an Oura Ring) can be selected. The app doesn't just say how many recovery nights the theory predicts, but also when you were measurably back on your rhythm.
Apple Watch
Dashboard on the wrist, logging during the flight, being woken smartly from your bunk rest, and complications for your reserve and caffeine cut-off.
Evidence-based
Every advice has an explanation in the built-in Theory tab, with its level of evidence. The rules of thumb come from the sleep and fatigue literature and are calibrated on measured data — not the other way around.
Free and Plus
The basics are free, the measuring is in Plus
Everything you need to plan your rest around a rotation is free. If you also want to see what your body actually makes of it, there is Crew Recovery Plus: €1.99 per month or €19.99 per year, first month free. Cancel any time through your Apple or Google account; a subscription applies per platform.
Free
Roster with report, pickup and wake-up times · bunk rest planner for flight crew, including alarm and sharing with colleagues · two-shift in-flight rest for cabin crew · controlled rest timer · log for caffeine, alcohol, naps and how you feel · all the theory explained, with sources.
Crew Recovery Plus
Your current alertness, reserve and body clock · curves ahead for alertness, reserve, caffeine and alcohol, plus your nightly metrics · measured recovery after each trip based on your own sleep data · severity calendar of your roster · Apple Watch complications.

There is no server, no account and no analytics. Your roster and your health data never leave your iPhone. See the full privacy policy.
Download
The iPhone version is on the App Store: free to download, with Crew Recovery Plus as an optional subscription from within the app. An Apple Watch is handy for sleep data, but any sleep source in Apple Health works. Questions and feedback by email are always welcome.
Flying with Android? The same app is on Google Play, also free and with the same Plus subscription. There it reads your sleep data through Health Connect.
